25th January marked the 2nd anniversary of the historic Egyptian Revolution which caught the attention of the entire world for its largely peaceful and non-violent protests that saw millions of people converging into Tahrir Square.

To highlight the influence of Gandhi’s philosophy of non-violence and the peaceful revolution at Tahrir, the Embassy of India in Cairo launched on October 2, 2012, a contest themed “Did you sense the spirit of Gandhi in Tahrir Square?”

The contest was open to participants from Egypt, India and other African countries. It was simultaneously launched in India and Africa under the auspices of the INDIAFRICA: A Shared Future Programme which aims to bring closer the people of India and Africa.

A collection of posters from the contest ‘Did you sense the spirit of Gandhi in Tahrir Square?’ will be showcased as part of the INDIAFRICA Poster Design Exhibition. The contest was open to participants from Egypt, India and other African countries.
